Mrs. Peterson has worked for Walkerville Schools for more than two decades.
Although she loves teaching, she says she has a difficult time determining where her dream of teaching all began. “I had a wonderful Kindergarten teacher,” she noted. “So maybe the seed was planted in my heart back then.”
Mrs. Peterson grew up on the east side of the state on Saginaw Bay.
To this day, music has played a major part of her life.
“I’ve always loved to sing and play the French horn” she said. “Being in the band was great.”
Mrs. Peterson is appreciative of how the staff at Walkerville pulls together to support kids.
“Everyone does what it takes to create a safe school environment for students and make sure they are provided the appropriate learning challenges.” she said. “The teamwork makes it easier to provide extra assistance to the students who have unique struggles.”
Many of the Walkerville memories Mrs. Peterson has collected through the years involve her students participating in music programs. “Whether the kids are in a chorus or in a band, it makes me happy to share the joy of music with them.”
Mrs. Peterson’s love of music probably explains why she’d love to be a director of musicals and plays if she were not a teacher.
But she loves what she does in our school – and who she does it with – and during non-school time going on rock-hunting expeditions with her husband.
