Thanksgiving is the perfect time for us to reflect on all of the blessings that we sometimes take for granted. For instance, after honoring our local military personnel on Veterans Day, I was proud and humbled to be around people who gave so much for their country. Other than when standing for the Star Spangled Banner before an athletic event, I confess that I do not think enough about the sacrifices that have been made by these brave people. I also know I need to be more mindful of the people who respond first when we are in peril. These include police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and the list goes on and on. These people act in selfless ways so that we can feel safe.
When I think of all these people, I also realize that there is a common thread that runs through almost every one of them; and that’s that they all probably attended school and benefited from the care and concern of teachers, paraprofessionals, lunch workers, and the volunteers who help out in our schools. SO I would like to thank YOU too for allowing us to help develop your child into becoming a first responder, doctor, scientist, farmer, soldier, welder, or whatever they choose to do with their lives. It’s a blessing indeed!
