Mrs. Sweet is definitely in the right place.
She said so herself.
“I love being a teacher,” she said. “Maybe it would’ve been fun to be a marine biologist instead – but I’m still able to be a bee keeper – so teaching here is exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
Mrs. Sweet grew up in Dearborn (MI) and fondly remembers her 6th grade teacher Mr. Davis as a favorite.
“Wow! Did he make us work hard!” she said. “But he made us emotionally safe in his class. It was while I was in his class my mother died, and Mr. Davis let me know he cared while still making sure I did not underperform what I was capable of.”
Every school day brings exciting mini-miracles in 3rd grade.
“When you’re working with a student who is struggling big time with reading and writing, you can never forget the look on his face when he sees for the first time he just earned a 100% on his spelling test!”
Mrs. Sweet believes inspiring hope is what teaching is all about.
“We have tremendous community support,” she said, “And I see our 3rd graders consistently stepping up to become more independent learners and get excited to further new interests. In a classroom atmosphere of love and acceptance, the possibilities are endless.”
